TRADITIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE SET-UP

During the colonial era, Osi became part of Ilorin Province in 1914 and was one of the eighteen District under Ilorin Emirate. By 1945, Olosi became the President of the Native Court of Osi in Osi District, Ilorin Province.

Osi traditional Council is made up of Amuru Merin (Four High Chiefs). The Amuru Merin are the head of the four wards (Aku Merin) that make up the town. The wards are: Odo-Oho, Igaga, Oke-Uloro, and Ini-hun. The title for each of the wards are as follow: Olokun as the head of Odo-Oho ward, Obaisa as the head of Igaga Ward, Oloofin the head of Oke-Uloro and Adara as the head of the Ini-hun ward. All these ward head are males. However, there are six Female Chiefs, and these include Ojumu as the head of the female Chiefs, then there is the Ewi, Alagba’a Ilemo, Alagba’a Ini-hun, Odofin Ojumu and Odofin Ewi.

The Amuru Merin also have their constituency with Chiefs over each area councils. These area councils include

  1. Odo-Oho there is Otun-Olokun.
  2. Igaga chiefs include Otun Obaisa, Akogun representing Odore/Ugbeyin; Olowa for Ilemo, and Odofin for Udoji.
  3. Oke-Uloro chiefs are: Otun Oloofin; Balogun; Arogundade from Ojumosi
  4. Ini-hun has Aniyunloye as his Chief.
